Purpose Of The Role

An industrial electrician installs, maintains and repairs industrial electrical and mechanical equipment. These may include fixtures, wiring, pumps, heavy-duty machinery and electrical systems. They most commonly work in commercial or industrial buildings but can also work in other settings. Industrial electricians frequently work in the maintenance and construction industries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform necessary repairs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with other team members to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Renovate and build electrical systems as needed.
  • Install and program logic controllers for automated equipment.
  • Programming logic controllers for automation.
  • Oversee the maintenance of power supply and distribution (high and low voltage systems, distribution systems, and ancillary equipment within the department’s jurisdiction).
  • Adhere to all Corning AMPS and OSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds.
  • Meet or exceed company safety standards.
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent required.
  • 4 years of Industrial electrician’s experience with frequent work in the maintenance and construction industries.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Knowledgeable in pertinent electrical codes and regulations.
  • Must be able to handle physically demanding tasks.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with low voltage systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Electrical system installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Troubleshooting electrical issues.
  • Renovation and construction of electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Work Environment

The role involves physical labor, exposure to varying temperatures, and handling potentially hazardous materials. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be used at all times. May be required to work after hours and on weekends or holidays.

The range for this position is $35.00 hourly rate - $37.50 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
