Job summary

Clearwater Paper Corporation in Augusta, GA is seeking an E&I Technician to join the maintenance team. The role focuses on maintaining machinery across the mill to keep operations efficient and minimize unscheduled downtime.

Candidates will perform electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical tasks, operate forklifts and cranes, and strictly follow safety procedures such as lockout/tagout. The position requires a 12-hour rotating shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 2 years in manufacturing or related environment or completion of a technical program; associates preferred.
• Understand and comply with all manufacturing safety procedures including PPE.
• Physically capable of 12-hour shifts and lifting up to 50+ lbs with team lifting when needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, operate, and inspect equipment to minimize downtime and ensure efficient mill operations.
• Adhere to safety policies and participate in safety incident investigations.
• Work within environmental and procedural reporting requirements and document compliance.
• Operate a variety of tools and equipment (power, hand tools, shop machinery) and support the maintenance team.

Job description

The E&I Technician position for the maintenance team at the Augusta location, is responsible for maintaining machinery throughout the mill to ensure efficient operations and decreased unscheduled machine down-time.

• Proficiently perform at least one (1) of the recognized primary crafts and act as a knowledgeable helper in all other recognized primary crafts including:
• Electrical
• Instrumentation
• Millwright
• Machinist
• HVAC
• Change out equipment
• Safely operate a variety of tools (power, machine shop, gasoline powered, hand tools, etc.)
• Safely operate company vehicles including forklift, overhead crane, clamp truck
• Hold self and others to high level of safety standards, ensuring workplace safety policies are upheld and safety rules are followed (lockout/tagout procedures, appropriate PPE, safe driving practices, proper lifting techniques, etc.)
• Participate as needed in safety incidents and help investigate root cause
• Operate, maintain, and inspect equipment to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, procedural reporting, and documentation requirements

What you will need

To be successful in this position, we are looking for candidates with the following:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required)
• Minimum 2 years continuous work experience in a manufacturing, production, industrial, or labor-intensive work environment (preferred) OR recent completion of technical program in Electro/Mechanics or Industrial Electrical programs, associates degrees preferred.
• Understand and comply with all manufacturing safety procedures including personal protective equipment (required)
• Able to work in a physically demanding environment including temperature extremes, loud noise, avoiding slipping, tripping, and falling hazards
• Physically capable of manual labor that includes bending, walking, sitting, and climbing in and around machinery and equipment for entire 12-hour shift
• Able to lift, up to 40 lbs frequently, between 40 and 50 lbs occasionally, over 50 lbs minimally. When lifting 50 lbs and above, Operator will use team lifting and overhead crane assistance.
• Work environment includes exposure to compressed air, steam, lubrication oil, dust, and hydraulic fluid.
• Able to work a 12-hour rotating shift including nights, weekends, and Holidays. Able to work overtime as needed.
