A leading company is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Instructor to join their Maintenance & Technical Training team. This remote role involves developing and delivering training for maintenance technicians on nuclear mechanical systems, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.

Thomas Thor is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Instructor to join the Maintenance & Technical (M&T) Training team for an Natrium Demonstration Project. This role focuses on developing and delivering training programs for maintenance technicians working with nuclear mechanical systems. The instructor will help build a high-quality training program from the ground up, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
Develop and implement M&T training programs and procedures that meet NRC, INPO, and internal compliance standards
Create curriculum using the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) framework
Design and lead instruction on mechanical systems, including pumps, valves, turbines, and heat exchangers
Develop and execute hands-on lab exercises, mock-up scenarios, and OJT programs
Prepare exams and evaluations to assess trainee performance and qualification readiness
Review and revise training content based on plant design changes and operational feedback
Integrate lessons learned from operating experience reports, plant updates, and regulatory communications
Participate in training audits and respond to NRC and INPO findings
Maintain accurate and auditable training documentation
Collaborate with emergency response teams, project managers, and subject matter experts to support program development
Minimum of 2 years of commercial nuclear mechanical maintenance experience
Military nuclear experience (4+ years) may also be considered
Equivalent academic and industry experience combinations may be accepted
Strong background in developing and delivering technical training in regulated environments
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Excellent communication, technical writing, and presentation skills
Strong attention to detail, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning and program improvement
Proven ability to lead training initiatives in evolving and dynamic environments
Experience working in nuclear new-build or commissioning projects
Deep understanding of training program accreditation and regulatory standards
High degree of integrity, collaboration, and professional accountability
