Job summary

The Child Center of NY is seeking a Maintenance & Custodian for Ocean Bay Community Cornerstone location. You will perform custodial duties and light maintenance to keep facilities clean, safe, and sanitary.

Hours are Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Applicants should have a High School diploma or equivalent and be able to lift up to 20 pounds. The agency is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Responsibilities

• Clean offices and recreational facilities.
• Mop tile and concrete floor areas; vacuum all carpeted areas.
• Wash and disinfect washroom floors, toilets, fixtures.
• Clean mirrors; replenish toilet tissue and soap as needed.
• Empty waste baskets; manage outside storage disposal.
• Clean entrances/exits including glass, doors and hardware.
• Keep outdoor areas near exits clear of snow and debris.
• Perform and/or report minor maintenance repairs.
• Report damages and acts of vandalism.
• Wash and buff floors with floor polisher.

Position Summary

The Maintenance & Custodian is responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner.

Essential Functions

• Clean offices and recreational facilities.
• Mop tile and concrete floor area, Vacuum all carpeted area.
• Wash and disinfect all washroom floors, toilets, toilet seats, hand dryers and fixtures.
• Clean all mirrors, and replenish toilet tissue and soap as needed.
• Empty all waste baskets and garbage cans and place garbage in outside storage bin.
• Clean entrance and exit including glass, doors and hardware.
• Keep outside area near exit and entrance clear of snow, cans, paper, etc.
• Perform and/or report minor maintenance repairs.
• Report damages and acts of vandalism.
• Wash and buff floors with floor polisher.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
