Job summary

College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, ID seeks a full-time maintenance worker responsible for general upkeep of university apartment buildings and grounds. The role includes inventorying supplies, preventive maintenance, and on-call emergency support.

Responsibilities cover electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and landscaping tasks, plus coordination with contracted services and occasional showing of apartments. Works indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude preferred.
• Prior maintenance experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintains supplies for Northview and Eagle View Apartments; inventories tools and parts.
• Performs general maintenance including minor construction, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
• Changes lightbulbs, cleans laundry rooms, trash pickup, air filter changes.
• Maintains fire extinguishers and smoke detectors in proper working order.
• Landscape maintenance: sprinkler work, mowing, snow/ice removal.
• Provides on-call emergency maintenance as needed.
• Plumbing, carpentry, electrical and mechanical repairs using hand/power tools.
• Identifies repairs and preventive maintenance and schedules work.
• Represents CSI for contracted repair/maintenance/cleaning.
• Assists with showing apartments and purchasing materials when needed.
• Assesses infrastructure damage and documents it.

Responsible for general maintenance and upkeep of college apartment buildings and grounds.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintains and inventories supplies for the Northview and Eagle View Apartments complexes. This involves accounting for tools and parts, as well as keeping supplies organized and functional.
• Performs all general maintenance on assigned properties. This includes minor construction, electrical, carpentry, painting, preventive maintenance, seasonal preparation, and clean-up.
• Changes lightbulbs, cleans laundry rooms, trash pickup, change air filters, and other miscellaneous duties.
• Maintains, inspects, and keeps fire extinguishers and smoke detectors in proper working order.
• Performs general landscaping of the apartments. Includes sprinkler repair, sprinkler blowouts, watering, maintenance of flower beds, mowing, and seasonal snow and ice removal.
• Provides on-call emergency maintenance, as needed.
• Minor installation or repair work which may include plumbing, carpentry, electrical and mechanical skills; operating hand and power tools.
• Identifies needed repairs and preventive maintenance and schedules and performs the work.
• Serves as the CSI representative for contracted repair, maintenance, or cleaning.
• Other duties as assigned may include, but are not limited to, showing apartments and purchasing materials and supplies.
• Assess, address, and document infrastructure damage.

UNIQUE FUNCTIONS

• Maintains collaborative relationship with CSI Maintenance Department
• Works independently. Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE PREFERRED

• Possess mechanical aptitude and abilities.

EDUCATION/TRAINING PREFERRED

• High school degree or equivalent required, associate degree or completion of some college course work preferred.

WORKSCHEDULEAND CONDITIONS

• 40 hours per week schedule will include some evening, weekend, and on-call duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Indoors and outdoors. All weather conditions. Varying indoor conditions include hot, cold, noisy, and dirty conditions.
