Job summary

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. seeks a Conveyor Technician to support maintenance in our distribution center. You will troubleshoot, clear jams, perform preventative maintenance, and document repairs using the A&F maintenance database.

You’ll work with 120V/24VDC circuits, 120/480V motors, and VFDs, often at heights, to keep conveyors safe and reliable. Ideal candidates have extensive conveyor experience, can read electrical prints and mechanical drawings, and are comfortable with high safety

Qualifications

  • Conveyor maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of powered conveyors and related equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform diagnostics on conveyors.
  • Reading electrical prints is a plus.
  • Reading mechanical drawings and parts breakdowns.
  • Document repairs, parts used and time in the A&F maintenance database.
  • Clear jams and identify root causes of high jam areas.
  • Basic PC knowledge.
  • Familiar with 120V and 24VDC circuits as well as 120/480V motors.
  • Able to wire 480V motors and accessories (brakes, soft starts, VFDs).
  • Welding and machining experience is a plus.
  • Familiar with lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Comfortable with heights 30'+.
  • Understanding of PPE applications.
  • Climb stairs and move around conveyors as needed.
  • Conveyor preventive maintenance experience.
  • Timely PM execution.
  • Detect potential breakdowns during PMs and decide repair urgency.
  • Familiar with Rapistan/Dematic conveyors.
  • Familiar with SDI conveyors.

Responsibilities

  • Fri-Sun, 6AM-6PM.
  • Willing to work overtime when needed.
  • Willing to come in early or stay late to complete repairs.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Occasionally work in other areas such as building maintenance, lift equipment, and grounds.

Job description

The Conveyor Technician plays a critical role in supporting the maintenance team by ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all powered conveyor systems throughout the distribution center. In this collaborative role, the technician contributes through hands-on troubleshooting, clearing jams, performing diagnostic checks, and completing preventative maintenance that helps the entire team stay ahead of equipment issues. They work from mechanical drawings and electrical schematics, document repairs and parts usage in the A&F maintenance database, and assist teammates in identifying root causes of recurring problems. This position requires comfort working with 120v/24VDC circuits, 120/480v motors, VFDs, and related components, as well as navigating heights, climbing stairs, and working over and under conveyor lines. Familiarity with lockout/tagout, PPE standards, and conveyor systems such as Rapistan/Dematic or SDI is valuable, and welding or machining experience is a plus. Above all, this technician contributes to a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement across the maintenance department

What Do You Need To Bring?
  • Conveyor Maintenance experience
  • Extensive knowledge of powered conveyor and associated equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform diagnostic checks on conveyor systems.
  • Able to read electrical prints a plus.
  • Ability to follow mechanical drawings and parts breakdowns.
  • Document: repairs, parts used and, time completing tasks in A&F maintenance database.
  • Clear jams and determine the root cause of high jam areas.
  • Basic knowledge of PC’s.
  • Must be familiar with 120v and 24VDC circuits as well as 120/480v motors.
  • Must be able to wire 480v motors and accessories such as brakes soft starts and VFD’s.
  • Welding and machining experience a plus.
  • Familiar with lock out tag out procedures.
  • Must be comfortable with heights of 30’ +.
  • Must have an understanding of PPE and applications.
  • Applicant must be able to climb multiple flight of stairs, over and under conveyor as needed.
  • Conveyor Preventative maintenance experience
  • Ability to perform PM’s in a timely manner.
  • Must be able recognize potential breakdowns found during PM’s and decide if it needs repaired now (e.g. shaft is worn) or can hold until next PM (e.g. pulley lagging is showing wear).
  • Being familiar with Rapistan / Dematic conveyors is a plus.
  • Being familiar with SDI conveyors is a plus.
