Job description

BOND is a rapidly growing private aviation company revolutionizing fractional aircraft ownership and private aircraft management, delivering an elevated and seamless flying experience for discerning clients. Supported by a landmark Bombardier fleet order, we are building a modern fleet of late‑model super‑midsize and ultra‑long‑range aircraft and assembling a team committed to operational excellence, safety, and white‑glove service.

As we scale toward launch and long‑term growth, we are seeking professionals who want to help build a next‑generation aviation company and play a meaningful role in shaping how it operates from the ground up.

Role Overview

The Maintenance Controller is one of the most operationally critical roles at BOND. Based in our Maintenance Operations Center (MOC), you own the real‑time airworthiness picture of every aircraft on our certificate — monitoring fleet status, authorizing MEL/NEF deferrals, issuing Airworthiness Releases, and leading AOG response from the first call to the last signature. You exercise independent judgment, direct technicians and vendors, and make high‑stakes decisions with minimal supervision. This isn’t a support role. It’s a command function.

We’re looking for an A&P with real Part 135 or Part 121 experience, a working knowledge of MEL/NEF programs, and the kind of calm, methodical decision‑making that holds up at 2 a.m. when a member’s aircraft is AOG in Teterboro. If that sounds like your environment, we’d like to talk.

What You’ll Do
  • Own real‑time fleet status across your shift — tracking open discrepancies, MEL deferrals, and maintenance due times for every aircraft on BOND’s certificate.
  • Exercise independent judgment on matters affecting aircraft dispatch reliability, compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, and maintaining continuity of operations.
  • Make operational decisions with minimal supervision, escalating only when issues exceed delegated authority.
  • Authorize MEL and NEF deferrals and issue Airworthiness Releases within delegated authority, maintaining accurate deferral records for every aircraft.
  • Devise and lead maintenance response strategy in the case of aircraft‑on‑ground (AOG) events — from first notification through return‑to‑service.
  • Direct maintenance activities involving technicians, MROs, vendors, and operating personnel throughout AOG recovery and routine operations.
  • Produce clear shift turnover reports and keep the Chief Inspector, Director of Maintenance, and Flight Operations informed with accurate, real‑time status updates.
Required Qualifications
  • Current FAA mechanic certificate under 14 CFR Part 65 with Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) ratings.
  • Minimum 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience under Part 135 or Part 121, with prior time in a maintenance control, line maintenance lead, or equivalent technical‑coordination role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 43, 91, 119, and 135; MEL/NEF programs; manufacturer maintenance programs; ADs; and Service Bulletins.
  • Ability to read and interpret AMMs, IPCs, wiring diagrams, and BOND’s GMM.
  • Proficiency with CAMP, CMP, Corridor, or equivalent maintenance tracking systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to brief leadership and direct technicians under time pressure.
  • Ability to pass a DOT pre‑employment drug and alcohol screen and maintain enrollment in the random testing pool.
  • Ability and willingness to work a rotating shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Inspection Authorization (IA) issued under 14 CFR Part 65.
  • Prior service as a Maintenance Controller or Lead Technician at a Part 135 or Part 121 operator.
  • Experience with Bombardier or Gulfstream aircraft types (Challenger 3500, Global series) operated in Part 135 service.
  • Experience supporting FAA FSDO surveillance and Operations Specifications activities.
Travel
  • Travel is required as necessary to support out‑of‑base recovery, vendor audits, or training.
