Maintenance - Continuous Improvement Technician

Job Summary

Enhance performance, reliability, and efficiency of plant equipment at company facilities by combining technical maintenance skills with process improvement initiatives. Execute preventive maintenance, troubleshoot recurring equipment issues, collaborate with operators and maintenance teams to implement floor-level improvements, and utilize data-driven solutions to reduce downtime and increase productivity.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Lead the implementation of the SugarCreek Performance System and coach teams to achieve annual savings and performance goals.
  2. Oversee installation and coordinate the transfer of new product lines from other plants, ensuring seamless integration while maintaining product quality.
  3. Use Current Downtime Software Ignition to identify operational gaps and implement improvements.
  4. Identify training opportunities to enhance downtime efficiency across departments such as Sanitation, Production, and Maintenance.
  5. Assess plant equipment for rebuilding needs to meet production demands.
  6. Utilize teaching tools to help identify problem areas and improvement opportunities.
  7. Guide resources and efforts toward high-impact initiatives in the correct sequence to maximize contribution.
  8. Analyze data to identify structural gaps and develop solutions for short- and long-term improvements.
  9. Support root cause analysis (RCA) and problem-solving initiatives.
  10. Lead or facilitate Continuous Improvement meetings within assigned departments.
  11. Track and analyze performance metrics to improve throughput efficiency.
  12. Provide support to Maintenance Technicians as needed.
  13. Collaborate with Plant Management to foster a positive, high-energy work environment focused on continuous improvement and achieving production goals.
  14. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  15. Support safety, food quality, and sanitation initiatives and policies.
  16. Adhere to SugarCreek safety rules and procedures.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

No unusual physical requirements; physical demands are typical for electrical maintenance roles, including mostly sitting with some standing, walking, and light physical activity such as using stairs or moving items weighing less than 50 lbs. Some travel between plants may be required.

Work Environment

Primarily indoors within manufacturing facilities near heavy machinery, requiring safety gear such as hard hats, hairnets, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and coats. Some tasks may be performed outside. Travel to other locations is expected.
