This position is located at Piedmont Correctional Institution in Salisbury, N.C. (Rowan County), a medium-security male prison housing 800 inmates.
Positions involve skilled work in maintenance, repair, and/or construction of buildings and facilities, requiring specialization in two or more technical trades related to maintenance of facilities, equipment, and machinery.
Work functions at the journey level across multiple skilled trades such as electrical, plumbing, masonry, heating and air conditioning, or similar. Responsibilities are complex, involving planning and coordination across trades.
Positions operate with limited oversight, consulting higher-level trades specialists for complex issues, and provide technical guidance to other maintenance staff. Ensuring work adheres to established standards is essential.

Note to Current State Employees: The salary grade is NC09. Current employees are encouraged to apply; salary will be recalculated based on education, experience, funding, and internal equity, possibly resulting in a pay increase.
Effective January 1, 2025, new salary ranges are $39,671-$69,426, following approved pay adjustments. Prior applicants will remain under consideration.

High school diploma or GED plus two years of progressive experience in the relevant trades, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May require EPA certification as a Type I, II, III, or Universal technician, as per federal regulations.
