Job summary

NC Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Technician III (S) at Warren Correctional Institution to perform routine, preventive and corrective maintenance across facility systems. You will work as journey-level in a mechanical trade and may supervise inmates and staff while ensuring safe, efficient operation of plumbing, HVAC and related infrastructure.

Requirements include high school or GED and two years of progressive experience in the assigned trades; EPA Type

• Ability to troubleshoot and repair facility infrastructure systems.
• Knowledge of plumbing piping and water supply/drainage.

Responsibilities

• Supervise skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled staff and inmates as needed.

We have a mission that matters!Description of WorkReporting to the Maintenance Supervisor at a medium custody male correctional facility, this position is responsible for performing routine, preventive and corrective maintenance. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:1. Performing at the journey level in a mechanical trade with experience in at least one or more other trade areas to perform work assignments.2. Ensuring assigned systems within the correctional facility and support buildings are maintained in a safe and efficient manner.3. Performing ongoing preventive maintenance and continuous repair of water/piping systems throughout the facility which includes pneumatic mixing valves, domestic water systems, non-potable water systems, heating/cooling piping, and boiler.4. Replacing and repairing commodes, sinks, water coolers, water heaters, garbage disposal, dishwasher, shower valves, water faucets, flush valves, and other related fixtures and equipment.5. Supervising the work of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled labor (including offenders) to assist in completing assigned tasks and provide support to other staff members performing trade skills during preventive maintenance or other duties assigned by the supervisor as deemed necessary.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesCandidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the Minimum Education and Experience listed on the vacancy announcement.
