Job description

The primary purpose of this position is to support mechanical trades at J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center which includes HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and vehicle repair. Using knowledge gained from training and experience this position's responsibilities include: assisting with HVAC and plumbing on routine and emergency repairs as well as assisting with electrical repairs and maintenance of facility lighting needs.


This position will also assist with preventative maintenance, service, and repair on residential and commercial washer/dryers, ranges, and facility transportation. This position will be required to assist other trades within JIRDC's Maintenance Department as needed, and assigned by management.


This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events. This is a re-post. All applicants remain under consideration and do not need to re-apply.


Salary Grade NC03; Recruitment Range $31,200.00 - $50,298.00

Position 60038522 - Maintenance - Monday - Friday, 1st shift (7:30 am - 4:00 pm), work schedule may vary and include evening, weekend, holiday, and emergencies hours (Required to perform on-call duties as primary or secondary on-call staff.)

  • Documented working experience in 2 or more mechanical trades such as but not limited to electrical, plumbing, vehicle/automotive repair, HVAC, or welding.

Management Preferences:

  • Documented certification and/or experience in welding.

Physical Requirements:

Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma or a sufficient year-for-year combination of education and experience associated with a variety of mechanical or building trades; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualification: May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.

Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
