PLANT JOB TITLE Maintenance Class “AA” DEPARTMENT NAME Maintenance Sex N/A CHARACTER OF WORK - EDUCATIONAL EQUIVALENT Requires the use of shop mathematics and understanding of drawings, specifications, and layouts. Ability to interpret some precision measuring instruments and use of some training in a particular field. Equivalent to 3 to 5 years practical trades training. MINIMUM TRAINING TIME 3 to 5 years WORKING CONDITIONS Battery Manufacturing HEALTH AND ACCIDENT HAZARDS Possible injury to eyes – due to flying chips; fingers – getting caught in moving machinery; or material dropping on feet – may result in loss of time. Required to work in uncomfortable and hazardous environments, confined spaces and heights.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
General Duties

Applicant should possess a degree of competence in most areas of the Mechanical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic and overall Maintenance trade. Capable of solving maintenance problems with little supervision. Should have a good background in Plant Operations. The ability to interpret basic layouts and mechanical diagrams of a complexity to solve average difficult problems. Should be capable of utilizing various shop machines to repair production equipment parts. Set up and perform arc and gas welding. Should be capable of performing different operations of a mechanical nature for any department such as installing, maintaining, and/or repairing machinery, equipment and plant facilities. Should be able to utilize various pieces of test equipment, precision tools and measuring instruments. Perform all required Preventative Maintenance work on plant equipment. Perform such other related duties of a maintenance nature as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Mental Requirements

Continuous mental or visual attention to work being machined or assembled. Frequent diversified operations requiring constant alertness or activity. Skill and Knowledge Judgment required in performing work, remedying trouble, tearing down, repairing, and reassembling machinery, apparatus, or equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Equipment – Carelessness in use of tools may result in a replacement cost seldom over $50.00.
  • Material – Failure to repair or replace parts properly could result in damage up to $1,000.00 but seldom over this amount.
  • Safety – Thoughtlessness in the assembly of machinery or erection of plant facilities may cause lost time injury to others effecting body or limb.
  • Work of Others – Responsible for own work only.
Physical Demand

Sustained physical effort handling light and average weight material and tools. Occasionally work in awkward positions. Work usually requires continuous activity.
