Job summary

A leading pharmaceutical manufacturing company seeks a Maintenance & Calibration Technician for a 2nd shift position in Kentucky. Working on the KDD Manufacturing Team as a Manufacturing Technician, you will be responsible for performing maintenance and calibration activities in a pharmaceutical cGMP manufacturing facility and supporting the manufacturing of life-changing and life-saving prescription nasal spray medications.

Optimizing Production Efficiency – A well-maintained facility can operate at peak performance, ensuring that medications are produced in sufficient quantities to meet patient needs globally. Ultimately, a Maintenance Technician’s expertise ensures that every dose of medication manufactured is safe, effective, and delivered on time—directly contributing to improved patient outcomes worldwide.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include following procedures to perform and document instrument calibrations, preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and repair process equipment, utility, and facility issues and proactively improve existing and new equipment, utilities, and facilities. Additionally, manage inventory of spare parts and provide technical input for new equipment purchases and plant expansion activities.

Key Manufacturing Duties:

  • Operate, monitor, calibrate and maintain equipment and systems used to support manufacturing and laboratory operations.
  • Complete PM records, equipment logs and other forms to document work activities.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of spare parts for all plant and manufacturing equipment.
  • Complete emergency repairs in a high quality, timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Discover, evaluate and recommend mechanical, electrical, control system or equipment upgrades to continually improve quality, safety, and reliability and reduce costs.
  • Write and revise SOPs, PM cards and Forms to maintain up to date and accurately reflect the current procedures.
  • Keep all plant systems and manufacturing equipment operating efficiently and well maintained.
  • Maintain assigned areas neat and orderly and in compliance with SOPs and cGMPs.
  • Perform validation and equipment qualification activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED (required); Associate’s degree or technical certification in electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance (preferred).
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or GMP-regulated manufacturing (preferred).
  • 2-5 years of experience in maintenance, calibration, or equipment troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiency in calibrating and maintaining manufacturing equipment, including temperature, pressure, and flow sensors.
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), automation systems, and CMMS software.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA, and other regulatory requirements.

Soft Skills & Other Requirements:

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in calibration and maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation and reporting.
  • Willingness to work off-shift hours, weekends, and be on-call as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regular use of hands for documentation, equipment operation, and material handling
  • Extended periods of standing and walking
  • Ability to lift/move
  • Full range of vision capabilities (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth)
  • Must wear required PPE and follow cGMP/safety procedures
  • Lift heavy equipment up to 60 pounds occasionally, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
