Job summary

Voltava in Detroit is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance on large industrial equipment. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, read drawings and manuals, and work to keep production lines running smoothly.

The role requires a Journeyman card or completed apprenticeship, strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, machining and welding, and a proven ability to document repairs and follow safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High degree of mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical and electrical procedures.
• Journeyman card or equivalent credential and completed apprenticeship.
• Knowledge of machine rigging procedures, machining and welding.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, reading drawings and manuals.
• Ability to document technical reports and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Preventive Maintenance Schedule.
• Perform full diagnostics on equipment and advise supervisor of parts required for mechanical/electrical repairs.
• Physically maintain machines and equipment.
• Complete all paperwork/logs before shift end.
• Follow safety and lockout procedures at all times.
• Maintain workplace housekeeping and care of tools.
• Support production needs and participate in continuous improvement.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain Preventive Maintenance Schedule.
• Perform full diagnostics on equipment and advise Maintenance Supervisor and/or Purchasing Manager of parts required to perform necessary Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs
• Physically maintain machines and equipment
• Must ensure all paperwork and logs are completed prior to shift end
• Follow Machine Safety Guidelines, ensure proper lock out procedure are followed at all times
• Maintain proper Company housekeeping standards
• Responsible to maintain company tools as required to fulfill duties
• All other duties as assigned by Supervisors and Managers
• Support weekly production requirements
• Participate in any continuous improvement activities.
• Assist in monitoring downtime/uptime and abide within the Department/Company goals.
• Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human resources policies, and DMS Employee Handbook
