Maintenance Automation Technician - 1st Shift
Shift: 5:00 AM-3:00 PM | Hourly Rate: $35.90
The Automation Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving automation, controls, and technology systems and equipment. This role requires flexibility to accept automation and electrical maintenance responsibilities while adhering to safety regulations, GMP, and quality standards to ensure efficient production flow. The technician reports to the Maintenance Manager and works onsite at the Council Bluffs location.
Essential Job Functions:
- Work scheduled/assigned times and overtime as required.
- Maintain regular attendance to meet production requirements.
- Adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
- Identify problems, analyze data, and draw valid conclusions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships, individually and as part of a team.
- Explain complex concepts clearly to non-technical personnel.
- Travel for training and improvement activities as needed.
- Lift up to 75 lbs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Promote Conagra Brands' values.
- Develop, deploy, and monitor automation technologies.
- Train plant technicians in automation maintenance techniques.
- Integrate safety rules into automation processes.
- Provide technical support for production equipment and processes.
- Interpret electrical schematics and manuals.
- Diagnose process issues using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Utilize advanced network troubleshooting for control networking issues.
- Collaborate with IT to troubleshoot and maintain automation servers.
- Organize and backup automation documentation.
- Follow all safety, GMP, and sanitation standards, including PPE requirements.
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of Planned Maintenance and work cycles.
- Experience with electrical and automation equipment installation, operation, and repair.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge of electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and control systems.
- Familiarity with electronic components like HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and instrumentation.
- Proficiency with Rockwell Automation software (Factory Talk, Control Logix, RS Logix).
- IT skills for troubleshooting and resolving computer issues.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and preferably SAP.
- Strong communication and troubleshooting skills.
- Problem-solving abilities with minimal supervision.
- Mathematical skills for calculations involving units, ratios, and percentages.
- Visual acuity for detailed inspection and adjustment.
- Knowledge of safety standards, GMP, and confined spaces.
- Ability to obtain LOTO/PIT certification.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Two-year technical certificate or equivalent experience preferred.
