Job summary

Lone Rock Retreat, a mission-driven retreat center near Denver, seeks a Maintenance Technician to upkeep buildings, guest rooms, and equipment, ensuring safety and guest satisfaction. You will perform repairs, preventive maintenance, and help manage energy programs across the property.

Candidates should have 3+ years in maintenance with HVAC knowledge, strong organizational skills, and a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Upkeep, rehabilitation, and maintenance of the facility and systems (mechanical, electrical, HVAC).
  • Assist Maintenance Manager in safety, energy, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Conduct campus-wide inspections to ensure preventive maintenance standards.
  • Maintain maintenance areas for safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide room touch-up, repairs, and appliance/furniture servicing in guest rooms.
  • Perform general repairs and maintenance duties meeting service quality standards.
  • Respond to guest and departmental inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Oversee basic maintenance of vehicles, including inspections and preventive tasks.
  • Coordinate with onsite vendors and monitor progress.
  • Maintain ponds, spas, and wellness equipment; assist with snow plowing and special projects.

THE ROLE

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for proactively maintaining all buildings, guest rooms, and equipment throughout the property and performing any required maintenance repairs to ensure an optimal guest experience. This role plays a key part in preserving the property's overall condition and appearance, ensuring it remains safe, functional, and well-maintained at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the upkeep, rehabilitation, and maintenance of the entire Lone Rock facility, including the physical building structure and all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment, in accordance with energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in the creation and continual optimization of safety, energy, and preventive maintenance programs
  • Conduct regular campus-wide inspections to ensure preventative maintenance standards are being met
  • Manage the maintenance and sanitation of all maintenance areas to ensure a safe work environment, compliance with applicable regulations, and protection of the physical asset
  • Provide room touch-up, testing, repairs, and fine-tuning of guest room appliances, furniture, fixtures, and equipment
  • Perform general repairs and assigned maintenance duties in a satisfactory and timely manner, meeting service quality standards that affect guest satisfaction
  • Respond to guest and departmental questions, complaints, or problems in a timely, professional manner
  • Facilitate basic maintenance of property vehicles, including inspecting tires, filling batteries with water, and completing preventive maintenance as needed
  • Manage onsite vendors performing maintenance work, checking in on progress as needed
  • Maintain ponds, spas, and wellness building equipment and services
  • Participate in re-keying of the facility as needed
  • Respond to equipment alarms, troubleshoot, and repair as needed
  • Assist with snow plowing of property entries, bridges, roads, and trails as needed
  • Assist with special projects, such as installations or event setups
  • Observe the property from a safety, security, and risk perspective at all times; report unusual behavior and recommend improvements
  • Monitor grounds for safety hazards, damage, or areas needing attention, and report findings to supervisors
  • Assist with other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No direct supervisory responsibilities

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in maintenance roles with mechanical and HVAC knowledge, or equivalent education and experience, including plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and carpentry
  • Understanding of common maintenance procedures and equipment troubleshooting
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow written, oral, or diagram-based instructions
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests, team members, and supervisors.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR) required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, early mornings, and holidays as needed
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to work at high elevations and heights, including climbing ladders, working on roofs or elevated equipment, and walking as a regular activity
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and maintain well-paced mobility for up to 10 hours, maneuvering between simultaneous tasks
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, stretch, and use hand tools and equipment with dexterity
  • Must be able to lift 70 lbs. regularly
  • May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical systems, and cleaning or pool/spa chemicals
