Job summary

Wayne-Sanderson Farms is seeking a Grounds Keeper to maintain the grounds and yard surrounding our facility in Mocksville, NC. The role emphasizes compliance with company policies and safety guidelines, including PPE usage and animal welfare standards.

You will perform landscaping tasks such as mowing, planting, weeding, and light exterior maintenance, and you may be asked to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to keep the property in top condition.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred but not required.
• Landscaping experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds/yard surrounding facility to keep it well kept.
• Perform landscaping tasks: mowing, planting, weeding, fertilizing and pruning.
• Handle minor exterior maintenance and cleaning of sidewalks.
• Assist others in grounds and facility maintenance as needed.
• Follow all safety policies and PPE requirements.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Primarily responsible for the cultivation and care of grounds/yard surrounding facility. Performs all work in compliance with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

• Under minimal supervision, ensure grounds/yard surrounding facility are well maintained
• Perform landscaping duties such as mowing, planting, weeding, fertilizing, pruning etc to ensure plants, shrubs and trees remain healthy
• Perform minor facility exterior maintenance such as sweeping/clearing sidewalks, painting, lightbulb replacement and/ or other minor structural repairs etc.
• Assist others when requested in the repair and maintenance of grounds and facility
• Work in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations
• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Previous experience in landscaping a plus
• Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours
• Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

• Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in areas where required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work in hot, wet and/or cold environment
• Ability to stand up to 8 hours
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
