Job summary

Seltzer's Smokehouse Meats is seeking a Maintenance Technician to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment in a safety-conscious facility. You will work under the Plant Manager and adhere to GMP and preventive maintenance systems to keep the operation running smoothly.

The role demands hands-on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills, plus the ability to read manuals, schematics and blueprints, and to operate tooling and forklifts as required.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree in maintenance or 3 years of relevant experience.
• Basic electrical knowledge and ability to read schematics.
• Ability to read equipment manuals, blueprints and work orders.
• Proficiency with data entry and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on machines and facilities, including scheduled and emergency repairs.
• Conduct simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
• Troubleshoot and repair production machines using mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic skills.
• Read manuals, blueprints and work orders; follow sketches and diagrams for maintenance.
• Carry out plumbing and carpentry tasks as needed.
• Use hand and power tools, meters, and material handling equipment safely.
• Report faulty operations, defective materials and unusual situations to supervisors.

Job Summary

Reports to Plant Manager, the Maintenance Technician's main function is to perform highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to Safety, GMP and Preventive Maintenance Systems and Processes

Responsibilities

• Conduct preventative maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities, as well as scheduled and emergency repairs of production equipment during production
• Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities
• Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
• Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and work orders as well as follow sketches and diagrams to perform required maintenance and service
• Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions
• Use and maintain accountability for a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
• Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to the proper supervisor

Education and Experience

• 2-year technical degree in maintenance related field or 3 years relevant experience.
• Basic electrical knowledge.
• The ability to safely use all basic hand tools as well as various power equipment including packaging machines, forklift, pallet jack, high reach order picker, and scissor lift.
• Basic computer skills including data entry.
• Ability to learn new software.
• Ability to read schematics.

• This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to read schematics
• Ability to work safely and effectively in a warehouse environment and in outside yard operations.
• Ability to safely operate various power equipment including packaging machines, fork lift, pallet jack, high reach order picker, and scissor lift.
• Ability to work from heights.
• Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and overtime as required.
• Lift, push and/or move items up to 50 pounds on a repetitive basis.
