The Bowery Mission is a Christian, faith-based organization committed since the 1870s to serving people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty. Key Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing physical review of assigned areas (including roof and sidewalks).
- Perform tasks to maintain essential systems, such as preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment, completing assigned checklists, minor plumbing repairs, and responding to work orders.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace. Responsible for provided tools, materials, etc., and keeping them available for use.
- Assist Facility staff and other teams to provide excellent service, including physically assisting with event/space set-up and helping during events.
- Note and communicate maintenance and supply needs throughout assigned areas.
- Duties include reaching, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Schedule
Tuesday-Saturday: 9:00am-5:30pm. Requires availability for days, nights, evenings, weekends, and holiday work hours as assigned.
Requirements
- Embrace's the organization’s Statement of Faith.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years Facilities experience.
Preferred
- Preventative maintenance practices. Safety training/certificate.
- Understanding of shelter operations.
- Driver’s license preferred.
- F80 (fire safety, guard certificate); NCI Certification; OSHA Certification.
