  • Ability to obtain and maintain power equipment certification.

Responsibilities

  • The Maintenance Associate performs daily maintenance, sanitation, and cleaning throughout the office and warehouse facilities.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized environment while upholding sanitation and safety standards.
  • Performs routine housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, dusting, restrooms, and trash/recycling.
  • Keeps warehouse floors clean by sweeping, mopping, and operating floor scrubbers.
  • Monitors and reports maintenance concerns to the Facilities Lead or Manager.
  • Shovels and clears walkways during snowy or icy weather conditions.
  • Assists with setup, teardown, and cleanup of events at the facility.

Job Title: Maintenance Associate

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Employment Status: Full-Time (40 Hours per Week), Non-Exempt

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be available to work Monday through Friday: 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Some nights and weekends might be required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Previous maintenance and/or warehouse experience preferred. Experience operating power equipment preferred. Ability to obtain and maintain power equipment certification.

Physical Requirements

This position operates in a typical warehouse environment and may be exposed to extreme temperatures and various weather conditions.

The employee must be able to:

  • Sit, stand, bend, pull, reach, and move throughout the workday.
  • Safely operate power equipment.
  • Lift up to 80 pounds without assistance.

Frequently change physical positions and adjust visual focus as needed to perform job duties safely and effectively.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Associate is responsible for performing daily maintenance, sanitation, and cleaning duties throughout the office and warehouse facilities. This position helps ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment while maintaining all sanitation and safety standards in support of the Food Bank's mission.

Duties and Responsibilities
Cleaning and Housekeeping
  • Perform routine housekeeping duties, including:
    • Vacuuming and dusting office areas
    • Washing windows
    • Cleaning and restocking restrooms
    • Emptying office and warehouse trash receptacles
  • Maintain warehouse floor cleanliness by sweeping, mopping, and operating floor scrubbers.
  • Clean under and around pallets and pallet racking.
  • Clean kitchen and breakroom areas, including:
    • Refrigerators
    • Microwaves (inside and outside)
    • Countertops and other surfaces
  • Empty trash and recycling containers in breakroom and kitchen areas and clean containers as needed.
  • Immediately clean spills when identified or reported.
Facility and Grounds Maintenance
  • Help maintain the cleanliness of the parking lot and facility grounds.
  • Report maintenance concerns, damage, or safety issues to the Facilities Lead or Facilities Manager.
  • Shovel and clear walkways during snowy or icy weather conditions.
  • Assist with setup, teardown, and cleanup of events held at the facility.
Inventory and Pest Monitoring
  • Monitor cleaning supply levels and communicate replenishment needs to the Facilities Lead or Facilities Manager.
  • Observe all facility areas for signs of pests or rodents.
  • Correct issues when appropriate or report concerns to the Facilities Lead or Facilities Manager.
  • Document pest-related observations in the Pest Control Binder.
  • Recycle warehouse plastic wrap in accordance with established procedures.
Equipment and Safety
  • Inspect power equipment before each use.
  • Follow all established safety policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
Other Responsibilities
  • Adheres to the Food Bank's Employee Code of Conduct.
  • Maintains a clean and safe workspace.
  • Follows all safety standards and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
