Welcome to Distinctive Living. We are seeking a Maintenance Assistant (Full-Time 12:00pm - 8:00pm alternating weekends) for our Mira Vie at West Milford Community.

The Maintenance Assistant performs general operating maintenance, service, and repair of the interior and exterior of the assigned community in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards/regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on HVAC, elevator, fire and sprinkler equipment, generator, landscape, kitchen equipment, and emergency pull cord equipment.
2. Handle general maintenance projects, including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, and equipment repairs.
3. Respond to maintenance requests for repairs in residents' rooms, including plumbing, electrical, heating, and lighting.
4. Maintain vacated rooms promptly, including painting and carpet cleaning.
5. Ensure walls, flooring, doors, and woodwork in common areas are maintained properly.
6. Communicate positively with fire marshals, building inspectors, elevator inspectors, and other authorities.
7. Assess plumbing and electrical issues and determine the best corrective actions.
8. Work within local and state codes, document safety issues, and review safety data sheets for hazardous chemicals.
9. Assess property damage and file claims as per company policy.
10. Respond to management and community emergencies as needed.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1-3 years of related experience and/or training.
• Knowledge of building equipment, codes, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, especially in healthcare facilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone.
