Job summary

Accela Rehab and Care Center at Manalapan is seeking a dedicated maintenance worker to keep the facility safe and functional. You will perform cleaning of common areas, inspect and service HVAC and electrical systems, replace lighting, and handle general repairs to walls, floors, and ceilings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in commercial maintenance, basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Must be reliable, professional, and able to work with elderly residents.
• Must possess the ability to follow written and oral instructions and work with others.

Responsibilities

• Clean common areas and maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety throughout designated areas.
• Ensure that all equipment is clean and in working condition.
• Replace burned-out light bulbs and air filters; clean/refrigerator coils.
• Service heating and cooling units per manufacturer guidelines and facility procedures.
• Assist with fire drills and building evacuations; participate in life-safety duties.
• Maintain life-safety records and participate in safety audits.

• Responsible for cleaning common areas of the facility
• Maintains a high level of cleanliness & safety throughout designated areas
• Ensure that all equipment is clean and in working condition at all times
• Removal of trash & soiled linens. Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds
• Maintain/repair/clean windows and screens.
• Replace burned out light bulbs in all areas of the facility.
• Clean/vacuum refrigerator/freezer coils and compressors.
• Service heating and cooling units according to manufacturer guidelines and facility policies and procedures.
• Assist with fire drills and building evacuations.
• Complete life safety code assignments.
• Assist in maintaining plant operations and life safety records.
• Complete safety audits as assigned.
• Test and record water temperatures.
• Repair call systems, cords, call bells, bed alarms, chair alarms.
• Perform commercial washer and dryer preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Ensure fire extinguishers are current and in proper working order.
• Repair walls, paint, caulk, strip and stain furniture, repair floor tile, install dry wall.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience with commercial maintenance and repair of buildings, plumbing, electrical systems,alarm systems, appliances, commercial stoves, refrigerators, air-conditioning and heating units.
• General construction experience preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
• Must display professionalism both in appearance and attitude.
• Must possess the ability to solve problems and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Must genuinely care for and understand the elderly and other persons with various disabilities.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with peers, residents, family members, visitors,government agency personnel and the general public.
