Job summary

HOPES CAP, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to keep our facilities safe, clean, and in excellent condition across multiple locations in New Jersey. The role covers electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and general repairs with on-call availability.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and at least 3 years of building maintenance experience, with a NJ driver’s license and basic computer skills for communication and ESS access.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• 3 years of experience in building maintenance or related fields.
• Valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
• Basic computer skills to access email and ESS for communication with the Agency.
• Strong skills in electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform general repairs including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and painting.
• Conduct regular facility inspections and preventative maintenance across multiple locations.
• Assist with outdoor maintenance, including landscaping and snow removal.
• Operate power tools, hand tools, and maintenance equipment safely and efficiently.
• Handle vehicle maintenance, including tune-ups and fluid checks.
• Support emergency and on-call repairs during severe weather conditions.
• Collaborate with the Facilities team to ensure smooth operations.

From fixing plumbing issues to handling HVAC maintenance and assisting with landscaping, your role will be essential in keeping our operations running smoothly. This role requires hands-on technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to facility maintenance.
