Job summary

Wesley Palms Retirement Community is hiring a Maintenance Assistant / Janitor in San Diego. This full-time role runs Tuesday through Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., offering an hourly pay between $19.50 and $21.50.

You will help keep the facility and surrounding properties clean and orderly, reporting to the Housekeeping Supervisor as needed. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and prior janitorial experience.

Summary

Under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor and/or Assistant Supervisor, keeps premises of the facility, apartment houses, residential homes and other buildings on company grounds in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties.

Essential

Competencies and skills:

• Must be able to organize thoughts in a clear manner, effective oral and written communication skills; must possess public speaking skills; must be an active listener and possess conflict resolution/problem solving skills.
• Knowledge of the aging process and its effect on our residents
• Knowledge of the basic services provided by residential and skilled nursing facilities and other community agencies, ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
• Knowledge of community resources available
• Knowledge and ability to train and to supervise other social service staff and volunteers as needed.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
• Ability to present concise and meaningful reports, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to accept and use professional supervision, consultation and in-service training; ability to relate appropriately and effectively to residents and their families, to other staff members, and to personnel of other community agencies.

Education With Equivalent Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED

Experience With Equivalent Qualifications

• Previous Janitorial or related experience preferred
