Job summary

Claiborne Senior Living is seeking a reliable Maintenance Assistant to support daily upkeep, safety, and appearance of our senior living community in Baton Rouge. This role helps ensure residents feel safe, comfortable, and at home while maintaining building systems and grounds.

You will work with the Maintenance Director and a supportive team, performing routine maintenance, minor repairs, and preventative tasks while following safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of maintenance or facilities experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) desired.

Responsibilities

• Assist with routine maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC systems.
• Assist with routine maintenance of building systems.
• Support preventative maintenance programs.
• Perform minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry tasks.
• Complete work orders in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain grounds, common areas, and equipment.
• Follow safety and OSHA guidelines.
• Assist with emergency repairs as needed.
• Help maintain organized maintenance records.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with routine maintenance, repair, & installation of HVAC systems
• Assist with routine maintenance of building systems

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma or GED
• 1-3 years of HVAC apprenticeship specialty preferred

• 1–3 years of maintenance or facilities experience preferred
• Basic knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical)
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Dependable and able to work independently
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks
• Willingness to be flexible for occasional emergency response needs
