Job summary

Sinai Post Acute Nursing and Rehab Center in Newark, NJ seeks a Maintenance Worker to perform a range of standard maintenance tasks to keep the facility safe, clean and fully operational. The role offers stability with Full Time/Part Time and Per Diem options and a competitive hourly rate.

You will follow directions from the Maintenance Director, maintain and repair basic facility systems, manage tools, and support on-call coverage 24 hours a day to ensure reliable service and resident safety.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent and basic knowledge of wiring, plumbing and carpentry.
• Must be able to read, write and understand the English language.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with and follows directions from the Maintenance Director.
• Maintains building and grounds in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
• Maintains and repairs basic functions of the facility as determined by the Maintenance Director.
• Takes care of the tools and equipment.
• Makes minor repairs on handrails, windows, flooring, walls, ceilings, beds, wheelchairs, geri-chairs, electrical equipment, sprinkling systems, generators, emergency lighting, fire alarms and extinguishers, changes filters on HVAC equipment, carries, lifts and stocks supplies.
• Remains on call, when assigned, for 24 hours a day.
• Assumes supervisor’s responsibilities in his/her absence.
• Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.
• Performs other duties as requested.
