Job summary

Riverwood Healthcare Center in Stockton, CA is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join our team dedicated to safe, clean, and welcoming environments for residents.

Entry level position with on-the-job training; you will assist in maintaining facilities, responding to repair requests, and ensuring comfort and safety for patients and staff. Prior maintenance or healthcare setting experience is helpful, but attitude and willingness to learn matter most.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in maintenance or construction preferred
  • Meets the physical requirements of the position (standing on ladders, lifting, etc.)
  • Nursing home or hospital experience preferred
  • Ability to recognize things in need of repair – and desire to fix them
  • Basic reporting and organizational skills
  • Remains calm and professional in all work-related situations
  • Willingness to serve others and learn

Responsibilities

  • Manages the routine maintenance needs of the facility and its patients/residents
  • Repairs appliances, light fixtures, doors, beds, etc. responding to patient and staff requests using maintenance reports and log system
  • Assists with move in/outs – preparing rooms for patient/resident use
  • Ensure less than 24-hour repair/response time for all daily maintenance requests
  • Cares about the appearance and safety of the facility – repairs both external and internal issues to ensure a clean, neat, safe experience for everyone
  • Patches, paints and repairs are a major part of the position as well as carpet/floor care
  • Tends to lawns, shrubs, etc. ensuring they are weeded and trimmed
  • Assists the Maintenance Director or Administrator with fire and life safety training/drills
  • Communicates kindly with residents, families, staff, vendors and general public
  • Leads by example complying with all OSHA safety regulations, local applicable laws regarding health, safety or environment
