Job summary

NHC Somerville, a 78-bed post-acute facility, is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join our team. You will support upkeep of the building, equipment, and grounds while coordinating with other departments to minimize disruption to patient care.

Applicants should have a High School or technical diploma and the ability to read technical manuals. HVAC experience is preferred but not required; strong safety knowledge and cost awareness are valued. On-call duties may be required.

Qualifications

• High school or technical school diploma required.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
• Knowledge of local codes and safety regulations.
• Experience planning repairs or construction is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Keep records of work performed and costs involved.
• Coordinate maintenance department work with other departments to avoid interrupting patient care.
• Advise Maintenance Supervisor on maintenance and repair needs for structure, equipment and grounds.
• Communicate effectively with partners, residents and family members.
• Willingness to perform on-call duties after hours.

Position: Maintenance Assistant
NHC Somerville, a 78-bed post-acute 24-hour skilled nursing and long term care facility is looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team.

The qualified candidate for this position must be a high school or technical school graduate who is able to read and interpret technical manuals.

Requirements

• Knowledge of local codes and ordinances as well as safety regulations
• Ability to plan and carry out programs in repair or new construction and/or installation.
• Knowledge of record keeping and cost estimating
• H-VAC experience is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Keep records of work performed and costs involved
• Coordinate work of maintenance department with other department functions so as not to interrupt patient care
• Advise and consult with Maintenance Supervisor on maintenance and repair needs concerning structure, equipment and grounds
• Communicate effectively with all partners, residents and family members
• Must be willing to perform on call duties for after hours service
• Other duties as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor or Administrator
