Job summary

St. James Parish in Red Bank, NJ is seeking two full-time maintenance/custodial assistants to work 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, across the church, rectory, Eck Center gym, and affiliated schools.

Responsibilities include routine property maintenance, custodial duties, set-up for events, basic repairs, and inventory control. Applicants must pass a criminal background check, be a team player, lift up to 50 lb, and operate basic maintenance tools. Salary is $24–$26 per hour.

Qualifications

• Criminal background check must be passed.
• Team player with a positive attitude and able to take direction.
• Routinely inspect facilities and report maintenance issues.
• Basic troubleshooting and prioritization for a busy complex.
• Perform simple maintenance tasks including painting, drywall, lighting and plumbing as needed.
• Lift up to 50 lb and operate basic power equipment.
• Set up/break down chairs and equipment for events.
• Maintain logs and inventories of maintenance supplies.
• Assist teachers with simple maintenance requests.
• May perform additional maintenance duties as assigned.
• Bonus: NJ low-pressure boiler license is a plus.

Job description

St. James Parish in Red Bank, NJ is currently seeking two full-time maintenance/custodial assistants from 7:00 am to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, servicing its church, rectory, performing arts center, Eck Center gymnasium, St. James Elementary School, and Red Bank Catholic High School. Salary range - $24 - $26 per hour.

Requirements

• Must successfully pass a criminal background check.


• Must be a team player with a positive attitude, willing to work well with other staff members and take direction accordingly.


• Routinely inspect facilities and report any issues on the property requiring maintenance attention.


• Must possess basic troubleshooting skills and prioritization skills for handling a busy complex.


• Must possess skills necessary to perform a variety of simple maintenance/minor repair activities on the interior/exterior areas of the property, including, but not limited to, painting, drywall, clearing drain clogs, repairing toilets, replacing lighting as needed, restocking restrooms, and assisting teachers with simple maintenance requests.


• Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lb. items independently.


• Possess the ability to operate various simple power equipment necessary to perform preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and maintain property cleanliness.


• Must be physically able to set up and break down a large number of chairs and equipment for various events.


• Periodically inspect air handling, replace filters and grease components as needed, and maintain logs of this preventative maintenance work.


• Custodial duties as needed in various buildings of the complex. This may include emptying trash cans, sweeping sidewalks, wet mopping sidewalks, operating a steam cleaner, and operating a hand vacuum.


• Assist in inventory control/management/record keeping.


• May perform additional maintenance duties as assigned.


• Additional salary bonus consideration for candidates possessing NJ low-pressure boiler black seal license.
