Port Warwick Enhanced Senior Living in Newport News, VA seeks a Maintenance Assistant for a full-time 7:00AM–3:00PM role with an hourly rate of $22.00 based on experience. The position emphasizes safety, comfort, and quality of life for residents in a welcoming, well-maintained environment.

You will perform daily rounds, minor repairs in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and cosmetic areas, review logs, and assist with resident space improvements.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of general maintenance experience (painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, or related trades)
• Experience in skilled nursing facilities preferred
• Basic understanding of safety procedures and maintenance best practices

Responsibilities

• Complete daily facility rounds to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
• Perform minor plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and cosmetic repairs.
• Review maintenance logs and complete work orders accurately and promptly.
• Collaborate with staff to improve resident spaces and facility environment.
• Assist with furniture moves, equipment repairs, and general maintenance projects.
• Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues promptly to support resident safety and comfort.
• Ensure work complies with safety standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities for Maintenance Assistant:

• Complete daily physical rounds throughout the facility to identify and address maintenance needs and safety concerns.
• Perform minor plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and cosmetic repairs to facility systems and equipment.
• Review maintenance request logs regularly and complete work orders accurately and promptly.
• Collaborate with staff to support improvements in resident living spaces and overall facility environment.
• Assist with furniture moves, equipment repairs, and general maintenance projects as assigned.
• Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues promptly and efficiently to support resident safety and comfort.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety standards, facility policies, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications for Maintenance Assistant:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One (1) or more years of general maintenance experience required (painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, or related trades).
• Skilled nursing facility experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of safety procedures and maintenance best practices.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
