Job summary

Eskaton is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the facility's heating, cooling, water, gas, electrical and mechanical systems in Mount Shasta. You will also help keep the exterior and grounds well maintained and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires at least three years in maintenance with a focus on electrical, plumbing and carpentry. Candidates should have a high school diploma or technical training and be able to work under supervision and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or technical/vocational training is required.
• Three years' progressive maintenance experience with power plant exposure is expected.
• Experience with electrical, plumbing and carpentry tasks is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair of mechanical systems, electrical, plumbing and HVAC components.

• Inspect, install, repair, and service equipment such as valves, thermostats, lighting, and fixtures.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for supporting the maintenance and operation of the facility's heating and cooling, water, gas, electrical, and mechanical systems. This role also helps maintain the overall appearance and condition of the building exterior and grounds. The Maintenance Assistant supports compliance with state and federal regulations related to the physical plant and safety requirements, while helping ensure the facility remains safe, functional, and aesthetically maintained.

Essential Job Functions

• Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, performs various tasks associated with the maintenance and repair of facility.
• Repairs, replaces and otherwise maintains the physical plant, ventilation units, plumbing, thermostats, valves, etc.), electrical, refrigeration (condensers, defrosters, refrigerator, freezer, etc.), plumbing (toilets, sinks, water coolers, etc.), sheetrock (taping, texturing, etc.), painting, furnishings and fixtures, and landscape maintenance.
• Keeps maintenance areas clean and orderly.
• Plumbing: Installs, repairs, and maintains piping, fittings, and fixtures involves in the distribution and use of water and gas throughout the facility.
• Electrical: Operates and makes minor repairs in the existing electrical systems throughout the facility. This includes the installation of junction boxes, receptacles, and switches. Replaces motors, belts, pulleys, and micro-switches, either upon failure or as trouble-shooting malfunctions occur. Monitors and replaces lights and fixtures, and associated electrical appliances as needed.
• Carpentry: Standard wood-working skills, performs finish work to include cabinetry, painting and minor repairs.
• General Maintenance: If repairs are small, repairs and services to sprinkler systems, include sprinkler valves, PVC piping, and outside water and control valves. Performs minor concrete repairs to sidewalks and patios. Maintains outside lighting systems of the facility which includes parking lots and refuse areas.
• Responsible to maintain all maintenance tools and equipment in a working and orderly fashion.
• Accepts incoming freight and notifies respective departments of merchandise arrivals.

Starting pay ranges from $22.90 - $30.30 per hour. Factors such as scope, responsibilities, experience, education, job-related skills, internal equity, and market considerations may influence base pay.

Qualifications

Education

• High school graduate or graduate of a technical or vocational school.

Training and Experience

• Three years' experience with progressive responsibility in maintenance and power plant work.
• All staff that provide direct care to residents will have current first aid training.

Knowledge and Abilities

• A minimum of two years of general maintenance experience with emphasis upon electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
