Job description

Full-time position with core hours from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with overtime and weekend work as necessary. The primary purpose of the Plant Operations (Maintenance) Assistant is to maintain the building, grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):

1. Follow plant operation schedules as assigned.
2. Coordinate daily services with other facility departments during routine assignments.
3. Report all accidents/incidents immediately to your supervisor.
4. Maintain plant operations compliance notebooks.
5. Police grounds for trash and debris.
6. Clean and paint exterior surfaces as needed.
7. Replace burned-out light bulbs throughout the facility.
8. Clean refrigerator and freezer coils and compressors.
9. Service heating and cooling units according to manufacturer guidelines and policies.
10. Assist with fire drills and building evacuations.
11. Maintain plant operations and life safety records.
12. Perform safety audits as assigned.
13. Assist with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing repairs.
14. Ensure fire extinguishers are current and functional.
15. Perform carpentry duties using saws, hand tools, etc.
16. Repair or replace ceiling tiles, walls, paint, caulk, stain furniture, repair floor tiles, install drywall.
17. Maintain toilets and supplies.
18. Conduct minor roof repairs.
19. Assist in moving furniture, supplies, and equipment as directed.
20. Prioritize safety in all tasks and follow safety policies and procedures.
21. Wear safety equipment when lifting or moving heavy objects.
22. Keep work areas free of hazards.
23. Refer to MSDSs when necessary and follow labeling and chemical safety policies.
24. Report unsafe conditions or defective equipment.
25. Ensure work areas are clean and tools are stored properly.
26. Participate in training related to hazardous materials and bloodborne pathogens.
27. Follow hand washing procedures.
28. Replenish and report on supplies needed in work areas.
29. Report equipment malfunctions promptly.
