Full-time position with core hours from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with overtime and weekend work as necessary. The primary purpose of the Plant Operations (Maintenance) Assistant is to maintain the building, grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Follow plant operation schedules as assigned.
- Coordinate daily services with other facility departments during routine assignments.
- Report all accidents/incidents immediately to your supervisor.
- Maintain plant operations compliance notebooks.
- Police grounds for trash and debris.
- Clean and paint exterior surfaces as needed.
- Replace burned-out light bulbs throughout the facility.
- Clean refrigerator and freezer coils and compressors.
- Service heating and cooling units according to manufacturer guidelines and policies.
- Assist with fire drills and building evacuations.
- Maintain plant operations and life safety records.
- Perform safety audits as assigned.
- Assist with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing repairs.
- Ensure fire extinguishers are current and functional.
- Perform carpentry duties using saws, hand tools, etc.
- Repair or replace ceiling tiles, walls, paint, caulk, stain furniture, repair floor tiles, install drywall.
- Maintain toilets and supplies.
- Conduct minor roof repairs.
- Assist in moving furniture, supplies, and equipment as directed.
- Prioritize safety in all tasks and follow safety policies and procedures.
- Wear safety equipment when lifting or moving heavy objects.
- Keep work areas free of hazards.
- Refer to MSDSs when necessary and follow labeling and chemical safety policies.
- Report unsafe conditions or defective equipment.
- Ensure work areas are clean and tools are stored properly.
- Participate in training related to hazardous materials and bloodborne pathogens.
- Follow hand washing procedures.
- Replenish and report on supplies needed in work areas.
- Report equipment malfunctions promptly.
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and understand instructions.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing functions.
- Good judgment.
- Authorized to work in the USA.
- Ability to perform duties safely.
- Pass pre-employment drug screening.
