Job summary

Northwood Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Lowell, MA is hiring a full-time Maintenance Assistant to maintain grounds, facility and equipment safely to support a reliable maintenance program.

The role requires a high school diploma and general background in repair and maintenance; duties include hazard reduction, preventive maintenance planning, and supervising outside contractors, with weekly pay up to $25/hour.

Qualifications

• Must have a general background in repair and maintenance.
• Must be able to read, write and comprehend English.
• Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and incorporate them into maintenance practices.
• Must possess sufficient mechanical abilities to handle facility maintenance needs without excessive outside contracts.

Responsibilities

• Recognize hazards to residents or staff safety and take appropriate action to maintain a safe environment.
• Organize and prioritize tasks.
• Replace, repair and purchase items according to facility policy and procedure.
• Plan and implement preventive maintenance program and document accurately.
• Maintain weather protection against cold, heat, fire and other hazards.
• Supervise outside contractors.
• Serve on-call for emergency and off-duty hours.
• Perform errands and tasks as required.
• Maintain upkeep of exterior of building and grounds in all weather conditions.
• Other tasks assigned by managerial team.

We are a 123-bed skilled nursing facility. Up to $25 an hour with weekly pay, depending on experience.

As a Maintenance Assistant, you maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment safely and efficiently to ensure that a successful maintenance program is maintained at all times.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• General background in repair and maintenance.
