Merritt Academy is looking for a Maintenance Assistant to be responsible, under the direction of the Director of Facilities, for overseeing and responding to daily service needs of the Foundation schools. Working closely with the Facilities Director, this individual will ensure that the schools are maintained in a safe, clean, professional, and enjoyable environment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  1. Notify management of safety issues on the property.
  2. Keep track of and complete work orders.
  3. Read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  4. Assist with setup for school events and functions.
  5. Attend all school events as specified by the supervisor.
  6. Understand campus electrical, telephone wiring, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
  7. Inspect and monitor facilities-related equipment.
  8. Clean campus areas including parking lots, hallways, and playgrounds.
  9. Perform general landscaping.
  10. Perform classroom cleanings as needed.
  11. Assist with fire and safety drills, inspections, and testing of fire safety equipment.
  12. Assist with snow and debris removal during inclement weather.
  13. Perform routine preventive maintenance.
  14. Maintain school vehicles.
  15. Provide backup for bus driving services.
Requirements include but are not limited to:
  1. Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
  2. High school or vocational diploma.
  3. Knowledge of construction/maintenance trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
  4. Skilled in using hand and power tools.
  5. Ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment up to 75 lbs.
  6. Effective communication skills in English.
  7. Pass pre-employment screenings.
