Introduction

Join Emerald Place Clinic in Charlwood as a Maintenance Assistant, where you will be part of creating a well-presented and safe environment for some of the most vulnerable people in society.

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the service's facilities are fit for purpose, including gardening, and will regularly conduct audits to identify and repair faults, ensuring a safe environment for service users, staff, and visitors.

Working alongside an established team, you will handle all maintenance-related tasks, liaising with contractors to support the upkeep of the service.

You’ll receive necessary training to start your role and join a dedicated team where you can make a positive difference and help change lives for the better. As a Maintenance Assistant, you will be:

• Assisting with maintaining the service, buildings, facilities, and equipment to ensure they are fit for purpose.
• Utilising good DIY skills to maintain the safety of service users.
• Assisting in regular checks and maintenance.
• Supporting the repair and maintenance of all buildings.
• Participating in decorating tasks.
• Liaising with a manager to report faults and defects.
• Participating in a one-week on-call rota for emergency maintenance.
• Coordinating and supporting contractors on site, completing paperwork, and checking tools.

To be successful in this role, you will:

• Follow system and procedures.
• Have previous experience in a maintenance role.
• Work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
• Show courtesy and respect to residents to ensure high-quality service.
• Attend and participate in training sessions and staff meetings.

Emerald Place Clinic is a general adolescent inpatient unit for young people aged 13 to 18 with mental health disorders and complex needs, including Mood Disorders, acute Psychosis, Neurodevelopmental Disorders, and disordered eating.
