Job summary

Modern Maturity Center in Dover, DE is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to perform building upkeep and grounds maintenance on a full-time, swing-shift schedule (2:00 pm–10:00 pm). Responsibilities

• Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from supervisor.
• Cleans internal areas of buildings, includes buffing, dusting, sweeping and mopping.
• Paints interior and exterior walls and trim.
• Repairs parking lot and sidewalks with asphalt, cold patching materials, and concrete.
• Operates snow removal equipment for parking lots and sidewalks.
• Repairs or replaces building components with brick, stone and concrete.
• Maintains and repairs wood parts of buildings.
• Replaces worn or damaged parts such as hoses and belts in machines and equipment.
• Assist other departments with moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies.
• Sets up rooms for banquets and cleans rooms after banquets.
• Other duties may be assigned.

SUMMARY

Maintains and repairs physical structures of buildings and maintains grounds by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from supervisor.
• Cuts grass and trims weeds on the organization's property.
• Cleans internal areas of buildings, including buffing, dusting, sweeping, and mopping.
• Paints interior and exterior walls and trim.
• Repair parking lot and sidewalks with asphalt, cold patching materials, and concrete.
• Operates snow removal equipment to maintain parking lots and sidewalks.
• Repairs or replaces buildings with brick, stone, and concrete.
• Maintains and repairs wood parts of buildings.
• Replaces worn or damaged parts such as hoses and belts in machines and equipment, such as trucks and riding mowers.
• Assist other departments with moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies.
• Sets up rooms for banquets and cleans rooms after banquets.
• Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) OR one year certificate from college or technical school; OR three to six months related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
