Job summary

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is seeking a maintenance worker to perform hands-on tasks across equipment and trades. You will operate heavy machinery and power tools, perform carpentry, masonry, electrical work, and general maintenance in diverse environments.

A valid driver’s license is preferred but not required; travel and overtime may be necessary. Applicants should have two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under supervision, and be able to

• Operate light equipment such as power mowers, chain saws, drills, power saws, etc.
• Perform a variety of tasks utilizing power and manual hand tools including but not limited to: saws, hammers, drills, sanders, and stationary power tools.
• Possess the ability to perform a variety of construction trades including but not limited to masonry, carpentry, and electrical.
• Possession of a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License preferred, but not required.

Qualifications

Two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled trades worker or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course.
