Job Overview
The Maintenance Assistant supports the maintenance team by assisting with electrical and mechanical maintenance tasks, learning equipment systems, and ensuring all machinery operates safely and efficiently. This is an entry‑level position designed for high school students or recent graduates interested in developing electrical skills and advancing to Maintenance Technician roles.
Responsibilities
- Assist Maintenance Technicians with routine electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Support installation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
- Learn to identify basic electrical issues such as faulty wiring, sensors, and components.
- Assist with preventive maintenance tasks on manufacturing equipment.
- Help maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance and production environment.
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices as trained.
- Gather tools, materials, and parts needed for maintenance tasks.
- Communicate effectively with maintenance team members and production staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong interest in electrical systems, troubleshooting, and hands‑on work.
- Willingness to learn and develop technical skills in a manufacturing setting.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under close supervision.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving ability.

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education preferred.
- Previous experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Can lift up to 45 pounds at times.
- Manual dexterity to operate machinery and equipment.
- Ability to climb, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, and reach above shoulder level.
- Can withstand varying temperatures.
- Must work in different positions for long periods (up to eight hours).
- Must use appropriate PPE (steel‑toed shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, hard hat).
