Job summary
Savant Senior Living in Arcadia, CA seeks a Maintenance Assistant to perform general maintenance across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for residents. You will work under the Maintenance Director or Executive Director and respond to work orders and inspections.

Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Health screenings, TB clearance, and criminal record clearance required.
- First Aid/ CPR certification preferred.
- Special licenses or certificates relevant to maintenance duties.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in maintenance desirable.
- Experience in general maintenance, preferably in healthcare or senior care.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
Responsibilities
- Assist in general maintenance and repair of the facility (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry).
- Perform routine inspections of equipment, systems, and facilities.
- Respond to maintenance requests and work orders promptly.
- Conduct preventative maintenance activities as directed.
- Assist in setup/breakdown of furniture and equipment for events.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and inventory.
- Monitor inventory and report shortages to supervisor.
- Maintain documentation of maintenance activities and repairs.
- Ensure safety regulations and proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Report safety hazards and equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Collaborate with contractors and vendors as needed.

As a Maintenance Assistant in our Assisted Living facility, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the physical environment to ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of our residents and staff. You will work under the direction of the Maintenance Director or Executive Director to perform a variety of general maintenance tasks. Your skills, knowledge, and attention to detail will contribute to the efficient operation of our facility.
In addition to all components of the above position summary the following “Essential Duties and Responsibilities” are essential to successful performance in this position
- Assist in the general maintenance and repair of the facility, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry work.
- Perform routine inspections of equipment, systems, and facilities to identify maintenance needs or potential issues.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders, prioritizing tasks and ensuring timely completion.
- Conduct preventative maintenance activities, such as filter replacements, equipment lubrication, and inspections, as directed.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of furniture, fixtures, and equipment for various events and resident needs.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas, equipment storage, and inventory.
- Monitor and maintain the facility’s inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, reporting any shortages or needs to the supervisor.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and adhere to proper procedures for the handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Report any safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor promptly.
- Collaborate with contractors and vendors as needed for repairs, inspections, or maintenance projects.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

- Previous experience in general maintenance or a related role, preferably in a healthcare or senior care environment.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry systems and repairs.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with residents, families, staff, and contractors.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks that may require bending, lifting, carrying, and working in various weather conditions.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
