Job summary

UT Health San Antonio seeks an apprentice-level maintenance assistant to support skilled trades in routine installations, repairs, and equipment upkeep. You will work under direct supervision within the facilities team at the Floyd Curl Drive campus in San Antonio, Texas.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to follow safety rules and written or verbal instructions. Valid Texas driver’s license is needed.

Qualifications

Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn building construction, equipment maintenance and repair.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Self-motivated and directed; ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly.

Responsibilities

Assists skilled trade workers with routine installations, repairs, construction and replacement of equipment.
Assists trade personnel in the performance of maintenance and repairs that are unique to the craft area assigned.
Cleans and paints equipment and structures as directed.
Performs area housekeeping.
Performs similar semi-skilled duties within the assigned craft area and trains for higher level positions.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
