Job summary

Magna is seeking apprentices for its Exteriors maintenance/apprentice program in Kentucky. You will learn to troubleshoot electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and HVAC systems while gaining hands-on skills across electrical and mechanical tasks.

Qualifications

• One year continuous work experience.
• Must be flexible to work shifts/hours to accommodate training.
• Must be able to work at high elevations, confined spaces and extreme temperatures.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• A.S. Degree in a Maintenance Technology or related field, or concurrent enrollment in a degree program per the Apprenticeship Agreement.

Responsibilities

• Learn to trouble shoot and repair electronics, hydraulics, pneumatic controllers, and HVAC equipment.
• Learn to analyze equipment problems, determine root cause and implement solutions.
• Learn to install conduit, electrical enclosures, controllers, and switches.
• Assist with general mechanical work including welding, pipe-fitting, installation and fabrication.
• Support building repairs including plumbing, painting, and preventative maintenance.

The Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets. Job Responsibilities:

• 2 positions available 1st shift (7am-7pm) 3rd shift (7pm-7am)
• Learn to trouble shoot and repair electronics, hydraulics, pneumatic controllers, pneumatic devices and HVAC equipment.
• Learn to analyze equipment problems, determine root cause and implement permanent solutions.
• Learn to install conduit, electrical enclosures, electrical controllers, switches and other general electrical construction.
• Learn to perform general mechanical work including welding (Stick and MIG), pipe-fitting, equipment installation and fabrication work.
• Learn to perform general building and building systems repair such as plumbing, painting, general upkeep and preventative maintenance rebuilds.
• Learn to perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on paint, molding and assembly equipment
• Report any abnormalities of tools, parts or equipment to the Supervisor.
• Help with loading and unloading of equipment or materials related to maintenance and facilities projects.
• Learn to lubricate and inspect equipment for defects.
• Accurately complete all forms and documentation as required including work orders and PO requests, etc.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area per 5S guidelines.
• Participate in 8D process and QOS when applicable.
• Participate in department meetings, submit cost reductions and innovative ideas.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Required:

• One year continuous work experience
• Must be flexible to work shifts/hours being adjusted to accommodate training and other activities associated with the Apprentice Program.
• Must have good verbal and written communication skills and work well with others as a team.
• Must be able to work at high elevations, confined spaces and also in high and low temperature conditions.
• High School Diploma or GED
• A.S. Degree in a Maintenance Technology or related field, or concurrent enrollment in a degree program per the Apprenticeship Agreement.

Preferred:

• Experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields.
