Job summary

Kalmbach Feeds Inc. offers a Maintenance Apprenticeship in Carey, OH, in partnership with Northwest State Community College, delivering hands-on experience in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment while earning college credits.

You will learn to operate equipment, document work in CMMS, and work safely across departments. Candidates should lift 50 pounds, pass safety tests, and be prepared for outdoor work and variable conditions.

Qualifications

• Basic Safety/OSHA knowledge is required.
• Able to lift 50 pounds minimum and perform physical tasks.
• Must have or be actively pursuing a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Familiarity with CMMS and basic computer skills (MS Office).
• Valid driver's license and ability to work on raised platforms if needed.

Responsibilities

• Repair, replace, remove, and modify manufacturing structures and equipment to address problems.
• Maintain accurate daily records of work in the CMMS.
• Operate equipment such as tow motors, pallet jacks, and aerial lifts.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and structures.
• Keep work area and tools organized for safety and efficiency.
• Assist with other maintenance duties as required.

Job description

You will gain real-world, hands-on experience while simultaneously completing applicable courses thru Northwest State Community College with a cohort of like-minded and co-workers. At Kalmbach Feeds our Maintenance Apprentices gain hands on experience thru highly diversified trainings which include installing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining production facility equipment. Through the program you will gain the confidence to operate with a high level of autonomy as well as a positive and proactive approach to work. The successful candidate must work effectively with all departments, management, and employees. In this apprenticeship you will learn:

• To repair, replace, remove, and/or modify manufacturing structures and equipment to correct feed manufacturing problems of a mechanical, electrical, and/or structural nature.
• To maintain accurate daily records of all work performed daily in the computerized maintenance management system
• Knowledge of PLC
• To wear a full-face respirator and pass pulmonary testing
• To operate tow motors, pallet jacks, aerial man lifts
• To assess, diagnose, and evaluate feed manufacturing problems of a mechanical, electrical, and/or structural nature.
• To perform preventative maintenance (e.g. lubrication, inspection, etc.) for feed manufacturing structures and equipment.
• To maintain work area, tools, parts, and equipment in a clean and organized manner for the purposes of safety, efficiency, and appearance.
• To perform other related corrective maintenance functions or duties as needed.

Who You Are:

• Hold basic knowledge of Safety/OSHA
• Acts at all times, in a manner that supports a respectful, cooperative, and positive work environment.
• Must hold or be actively working to obtain a high school diploma or equivalent
• Able to bend, reach, squat, lift and work at heights
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds minimum to relace motors, pumps, extruder screws, etc.
• Capable of basic computer skills (MS Office Suite)
• Must be able to work on raised platforms and high areas
• Must be able to work in a dusty environment
• Must having a valid driver's license with no suspensions
• Willing to work outside in weather conditions
• Hold basic knowledge of Safety/OSHA
• Ability to meet tight schedules and handle multiple assignments.
