Job summary

Oakland Schools is seeking a Maintenance/Custodial/Grounds Worker to support district facilities and operations. The role involves coordinating with building occupants and administrators to complete projects and preventative maintenance efficiently.

Responsibilities include inspecting facilities and systems, repairing components, maintaining tools, handling snow removal and landscape work, and performing deliveries. Flexibility for overtime and ability to work under pressure are required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with building occupants and administrators to complete projects/work orders/preventative maintenance efficiently.
• Inspect facilities and systems to identify repairs.
• Install and repair system and facility components to maintain safety and comfort.
• Maintain tools and/or equipment for safe operation.
• Repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other items to keep facilities safe and functional.
• Request equipment and supplies and obtain quotations.
• Respond to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns.
• Salt and plow district parking lots in winter; snow plowing and removal.
• Lawn and landscape maintenance; athletic field maintenance.
• Deliveries and other duties as assigned.

• Position Type:
  Maintenance/Custodial/ Grounds Worker
• Coordinates with building occupants, and administrators for the purpose of completing projects/work orders/preventative maintenance efficiently.
• Inspects facilities, systems and their components (building interior, exterior, electrical systems, HVAC systems, life safety systems, etc) to identify necessary repairs.
• Installs and repairs system and facility component parts (door and window assemblies, ceiling and floor materials, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, etc) for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable, and efficiently operating condition.
• Maintains tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
• Repairs various items, systems and/or components (electrical switches, fixtures, motors, plumbing, drainage systems, HVAC, alarms, etc) for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition.
• Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items.
• Requests quotations for the purpose of providing cost information, purchasing and securing items.
• Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
• Salt and plow district parking lots in winter months.
