Woodland Public Schools is seeking a Substitute Groundskeeper 1 to join the district's facilities team. The role supports grounds maintenance, minor repairs, and routine upkeep to ensure outdoor areas remain safe and ready for students and staff.
The position reports to Groundskeeper 2 and the Director of Facilities and Safety. The ideal candidate has recent groundskeeping or landscaping experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and knowledge of safety procedures for chemicals and PPE.

Pay Schedule: $26.37 per hour.
The Groundskeeper 1 works under the direction of Groundskeeper 2 and the Director of Facilities and Safety to keep the district's grounds in a state of operating excellence. Ensure that the grounds present no problems or interruptions to educational programs and promote a culture of landscaping excellence. This includes grounds maintenance, minor repairs, and regular maintenance to facilities. The Groundskeeper 1 assists toward the accomplishment of the mission of the Woodland Public Schools of preparing students for career, life, and college so that they can become responsible and successful citizens.

The employee is frequently required to sit, bend head/neck, and use hands for repetitive grasping and for pushing/pulling. The employee occasionally is required to use their hands for fine finger manipulation. The employee is required to occasionally squat, kneel, climb stairs/ladder, reach overhead, lie down, crawl, and knee stand. The employee must frequently lift/carry up to 10 pounds and must occasionally lift/carry up to 60 pounds. The employee is required to push a maximum of 40 pounds and pull a maximum of 100 pounds. Anything over the weight limits should be done as a two-person lift or with a mechanical lift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works outdoors and is exposed to variable weather conditions, including rain, freezing weather, and hot and/or humid weather. There is potential exposure to debris when using a blower. The employee is expected to use chemical products and pesticides; the employee should not be sensitive or allergic to such materials. Personal protection equipment is required to be worn for pesticide application, including a dust mask, rubber clothing, gloves, rubber boots, and eye wear. Safety equipment is required to be worn when an employee is at risk for being struck, including a safety vest, hard hats, boots, and safety glasses. Eyeglasses must be worn when sharpening blades. Hearing protection, including earplugs, noise reduction earmuffs, and sometimes both, must be worn for the majority of tasks. The employee is expected to properly wear all personal protection provided by the District. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
