Job summary

A. M. Castle & Co. is hiring a Maintenance position to perform repair and preventative maintenance on operational equipment, building, and grounds.

The role requires basic mechanical skills and the ability to work with various tools in a warehouse setting. The position offers a Monday–Thursday schedule, with a probationary wage of $21/hour rising to $33.40/hour post-probation. Candidates should have at least two years of warehouse experience and the ability to read manuals and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, fans, air conditioners, etc.
• Examines mechanical equipment to diagnose issue.
• Disassembles machines and repairs or replaces broken parts.
• Adjusts functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary.
• Cleans and lubricates parts.
• Coordinates and/or assists in outside repair services.
• Maintains records of repair and maintenance.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
• Responsible for special projects as assigned.

Schedule: Monday - Thursday 6am - 4pm

Compensation: $21 during the 90-day probationary period, $33.40/hr after probationary period.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities

• Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, fans, air conditioners, etc.


• Examines mechanical equipment to diagnose issue.


• Disassembles machines and repairs or replaces broken parts.


• Adjusts functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary.


• Cleans and lubricates parts.


• Coordinates and/or assists in outside repair services.


• Orders replacement parts.


• Inspects complete repairs.


• Maintains records of repair and maintenance.


• Maintains a clean and safe work environment.


• Responsible for special projects as assigned.

• Reads and follows manuals, blueprints, and other written instructions.


• Keeps a maintenance log and writes shift reports.


• Notifying management when parts orders are needed for repairs


• Clean, oil, and test equipment on a regular schedule to stop failures.


• Ability to work under minimal supervision.


• Utilize and operate hand tools, power tools, and other equipment to complete assignments/maintenance. Maintain tools and equipment in a clean, safe, and usable manner.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

• Stooping, standing, and manual dexterity


• Light lifting (occasional 25 lbs or less)


• Heavy lifting (frequent 25 lbs+)


• Assigned safety equipment must be worn at all times (hard hat, safety shoes with metatarsal, safety glasses with side shields, gloves, arm guards)


• Frequent exposure to mechanical moving parts

Minimum Qualifications

Required Experience: Type, Skills, and Years:
