Job summary

Melling in Farwell, MI is seeking a Full Time Maintenance technician to oversee the upkeep and repair of machinery, guarding, CNC benders, end formers, welders, stamping presses, and related equipment. You will diagnose problems, perform preventive maintenance, and document work orders to ensure uptime.

The role requires reading drawings, basic hydraulics/pneumatics, and the ability to work independently or with a team. Forklift operation and safety compliance are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and correct mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic issues.

• Perform preventive/predictive maintenance including measurements and part replacement.
• Document work completed, shift reports, and work orders.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Support other plant operations as needed.

Salary Range: $28.00 To $32.00 Hourly

Summary

This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for the general upkeep, repair, and improvement of all machinery, guarding, CNC benders, end formers, welders, stamping presses, and other various equipment

Essential Functions:

• Diagnose and correct problems. The issues could be mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or any combination.
• Maintain tooling, repair set up problems, conduct first and last piece to verify set up.
• Perform Preventative/Predictive Maintenance activities, which include taking measurements, making adjustments, replacing worn-out parts, and calibration.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation necessary to communicate work completed, including shift reports, work order completion, and item consumption.
• Maintaining a clean and functional work area.
• All other duties required by Management.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Assist the Engineering Department with the implementation of new equipment.
• Work with the Safety Department to ensure all facets of the foundry meet or exceed our safety standards.
• Assists in other areas of plant operations as required.
• Understand and follow all of Melling's policies and procedures.

• A machinist or tool and die maker shall have a college and/or other certified metal working program certificate or four years related experience and/or training; or combination of education and experience. Knowledge and/or experience with metal working equipment are required.
• Welding experience or formal metallurgical education preferred.
