Job summary

Bunge is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic in Cairo, IL to maintain and repair plant equipment, ensuring maximum production and quality. You will routinely use hand and power tools, perform pump maintenance, and replace gearboxes. This role requires adherence to safety and food safety standards in a non-climate-controlled environment.

The position offers a Monday–Friday day shift (7:00am–3:00pm) with overtime, weekend/holiday coverage, and an on-call rotation. Training for advancement is encouraged.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years or more of major industrial maintenance experience.
• Ability to operate mobile equipment such as forklift, aerial lift, JLG, scissor lift.
• Ability to work primarily in a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Strong work ethic, dependability, and a high level of dedication to safety.
• High school diploma or GED is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Regular use of hand tools, power tools, measurement devices including calipers, welders, pipe fitting equipment, cutting torch, etc.
• Lifting and rigging using cables & slings
• Troubleshoot and repair pumps, centrifugal, rotary, and positive displacement pumps
• Analyze mechanical and operational problems and take corrective actions to maintain production and quality
• Working knowledge of laser alignment, ultrasonic and lubrication
• Replace gearboxes, drive couplings, chain drives, and belt drives
• Complete tasks and work orders with documentation per SOPs and standards
• Commit to food safety and maintain a culture of food safety at the site
• Be willing to train for advancement
• Other duties as assigned

A Day in the Life:

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repairs and upkeep of plant operational equipment.

Position Details

Monday – Friday day shift, 7:00am – 3:00pm, no lunch

Overtime, call-out availability, weekends/holidays, and an on-call rotation are required.

Pay rate: $32.09 per hour

What You’ll Be Doing

• Regular use of hand tools, power tools, measurement devices including calipers, welders, pipe fitting equipment, cutting torch, etc.
• Lifting and rigging using cables & slings
• Troubleshoot and repair pumps, centrifugal, rotary, and positive displacement pumps
• Analyze mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plan for and take corrective action; make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality
• Working knowledge of laser alignment, ultrasonic and lubrication
• Replace gearboxes, drive couplings, chain drives, and belt drives
• Timely completion of tasks and work orders with appropriate documentation according to standard operating procedures, applicable standards, guidelines, and policies
• Commitment to supply safe food, maintain a food safety culture within the site, continually improve the site's food safety management system; and comply with customer and regulatory requirements
• Must be willing to train for advancement
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• 1-3 years or more of major industrial maintenance experience
• Ability to operate mobile equipment such as forklift, aerial lift, JLG, scissor lift, and other equipment
• Ability to work primarily in a non-climate-controlled environment
• Strong work ethic, dependability, and a high level of dedication to safety

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Prior experience in a plant or similar environment
• Certifications for welding, electrical training, or industrial maintenance training
