City of Cocoa Beach is seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker to assist in the upkeep of city buildings, streets, and equipment. Under supervision, you will lead and assist other maintenance staff and perform sidewalk repairs and fence maintenance.
The role requires a high school diploma and 1–2 years in streets maintenance, with physical ability to operate tractors, backhoes and bobcats, and lift up to 50 pounds. You may be asked to work during emergencies as needed.

This is a non-exempt, full-time position starting at a pay rate of $18.91 per hour. This includes a generous benefits package offering health, dental, vision, and life insurance, 11 paid holidays, paid time off, pension and more.
Under direct supervision, performs skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled work to assist in the maintenance and construction of City buildings/streets and equipment. Work involves leading and assisting other Maintenance workers for repairs and maintenance of facilities and equipment. Work involves the maintenance and repair of fences, City buildings, City streets and equipment, assisting with the repair of light equipment assigned to the department. Work also involves assisting with the clearing of land for designated areas and sidewalks, setting up and assisting with special events. Reports to the Public Works Streets Supervisor.

Graduation from high school, and 1 to 2 years’ experience in streets maintenance; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including tractors, backhoes, bobcats, etc. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/ or a negligible amount.
