Xaxis Solutions in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a skilled Mainframe z/OS System Programmer to install, customize, maintain, and optimize IBM z/OS and related system software. The role ensures stability, performance, security, and availability of mission-critical mainframe environments supporting large-scale enterprise applications.

The position requires on-site work three days a week with relocation considered for candidates living in or around Phoenix.

Qualifications

Install, configure, and maintain IBM z/OS operating systems.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain IBM z/OS operating systems.
Perform system upgrades, migrations (e.g., z/OS version upgrades), and apply maintenance (PTFs, APARs, RSUs).
Manage IPL processes, system initialization, and configuration (PARMLIB, PROCLIB, SYS1 datasets).
Monitor system health and performance using RMF, SMF, SDSF.
Install, configure, and support key subsystems: JES2/JES3, TSO/E, ISPF, USS, RACF.
Work with DB2, CICS, IMS, MQ, and Storage teams for integration and support.
Develop automation using System REXX, CLIST; support CA7, Control-M scheduling.
Ensure security configurations aligned with RACF policies and regulatory standards.
Execute changes through ITIL processes; prepare backout plans; support weekend maintenance.
Create and maintain technical documentation.
