Job summary

Kyndryl Inc. in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Mainframe z/OS System Programmer to install, customize, maintain, and optimize IBM z/OS and related subsystems. The role supports mission-critical mainframe environments and requires onsite presence three days a week; relocation is possible.

You will collaborate with JES2/JES3, TSO/ISPF, RACF and other teams, manage upgrades, IPLs, and scheduling, and contribute to automation using REXX/CLIST. The position offers a competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in mainframe system programming (z/OS).
• Hands-on knowledge of z/OS, JES2/JES3, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, USS/OMVS, SMP/E.
• Experience with large-scale environments (multi-LPAR, Parallel Sysplex).
• Knowledge of vendor products (Broadcom, IBM, BMC).
• IBM certifications preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain IBM z/OS operating systems.
• Perform upgrades, migrations, and apply maintenance (PTFs, APARs, RSUs).
• Manage IPL processes, PARMLIB, PROCLIB, and SYS1 datasets.
• Monitor system health with RMF, SDSF, and related tools.
• Coordinate with DB2, CICS, IMS, MQ, and storage teams.
• Develop automation using System REXX, CLIST, SA z/OS, NetView.
• Support job scheduling (CA7, Control-M).
• Ensure RACF security configurations and compliance.
• Support change and release management per ITIL.
